Some idea about the key point of psychological consultation with Morita therapy in china

      The　Mority  therapy　is  very popular in China  recent years.     It specially   has    good   effect         on compulsion,  anthropophobia,  anxiety  (particularly  for  the  PANIC  syndrome), depress , adjustment disorder and so on. It  is  much  helpful    to       psychological  consultation .


              Some  ideas  about how to use the Mority therapy in consultation in china.
          1    Indication about patient should be selected.
Mority therapy is not suit for all mental disorder.
     Such as some organic disorder; patients who don’t have the introspection ability, can’t endure anything, and have weak desire to live better.  It is very difficult for them to get the good effect. In other words, shinkeishitsu neurosis is the best Indication.

 2    It is very important to make the patients to understand the pathogenesis of the neurosis. Including the characteristic of shinkeishitsu, the inducement and 　the vicious cycle of anxiety and attention.


  3. The essence of Morita therapy is: let it be, do the things you should do; the goal standard, the “jyunnnakokoro” (pure heart), these theories are not so easy to understand for patients, they must comprehend them by practice.
          To set up the small goal, to make the minor progress, obtain the small joy, get the achievement feeling in the actual life, then their self-confidence will come back gradually.


4. Because there are many skills when using Mority therapy, you should not rigidly adhere to any form. For example: for a patient with obsessive-compulsive disorder, when you tell him "to endure the pain, and do some work you should do", the patient may misunderstand your meaning, become angry, and shout: "Doctor, I really cannot endure it, I am too painful."

      No matter how method you use, so long as let the patient comprehend that “the pain is not something   special,        but become worse because of own excessively attention, if do some other things, it can reduce naturally.”  No matter if they believe it or not, advise that they try it first.



     5. About do not ask the symptom（fumon）. Fumon is the basic  principle  of  Mority  theory.    If doctor simply requests the patient not to complain of his symptom when it occurs frequently, it is easy to lead to misunderstanding.  They  will  feel  angry   and frustration.

Therefore it is extremely essential to just listen attentively to and understand patient's pain in the first step, then discuss about how the symptom was formed. After the patient comprehends, doctor should tell the patient not to pay attention to their symptom all the time, because the pain of neurosis is different from that of other diseases. Concentrating on the symptom only lead to the vicious circle.

6. About the medicine. Mority  theory is not contradictory with medicine. regarding some serious patient, lessening the symptom properly with the medicine is helpful to patient's restoration.
7. The key-person about cure is not doctor but the patient himself. you should not be eager for quick success , based on the understanding of Morita theory  ; Persisted practice is needed for best restoration.
